Laser Mani

I am not very good at using striping tape, I somehow can't manage to get it to stick properly and sometimes peel it too early and smudge the top polish. I was determined to keep at it though and having bought the new Barry M amethyst glitter decided to do a laser mani. I find this polish too bold to wear everyday so the black on top really helped tone it down.

I really liked the final look of this mani and will keep at it with the striping tape. How do you guys use your striping tape?

Green, Pink and Gold Hexagonal Glitter

I was walking past Claire's last week and noticed a 3 for 2 offer across their nail products, so I picked up a few bottles. I found this pretty glitter with light pink, green and gold hexagonal glitters and bits of small silver glitter. I decided to play around with placing the glitter rather than just brush it on. The glitter was a bit small and the patterns would have probably looked better with some of the 'glequins' from the born pretty store, will be adding that to my wish list.

Barry M Ruby Glitter

I wasn't supposed to by any polishes this month (strict orders from my sister, although she did buy me some caviar type polish n beads recently). I couldn't help myself though when I went into Boots and they were doing buy one get one half price across all the make up. I picked up Barry M Ruby glitter and Amethyst glitter. I layered it over white first and was told it looked like a doughnut with icing and sprinkles, mmmm doughnuts! I then used it in a jelly sandwich, the black glitter showed up really well, the red not so much unless under bright lights to pick up some reflection.

I currently take my photos using my iPhone just because it is so easy to sync everything up between devices, it's not so good however to get close up shots so I am beginning to contemplate whether I should use a 'proper' camera. What do you guys think?

Call of Duty Black Ops 2

As you may have gathered I am a gamer girl and you can usually find me playing one of the call of duty games, which also obviously inspired my blog name. With the release of the new black ops yesterday, I thought it only right to do a mani to mark the occasion. I painted it all free hand, and I have just realised how difficult painting a circle is!

Again apologies for the short post and lack of posts recently, once I get all the gaming out of my system I will be back with regular updates again  :)

Assassin's Creed III

Please excuse my absence, the new Assassin's creed game came out last week and I have been playing it since. I loved the previous ones so I was really looking forward to this latest one even though they have introduced a new assassin. So far I have mixed feelings towards it, I like the new little things you can do in it like hunt and climb cliffs and although the story has had some twists some have been quite predictable.  Anyway on to the nails, I thought it only right to mark the occasion with some inspired nails.

The thumb is a tomahawk, then the colonial flag, the assassin symbol, then the British flag, and then lastly Roman numeral three. I painted it all free hand, the assassin symbol was really difficult to get right, I had about three attempts before getting fed up and thought this would have to do. The British flag was actually the easiest to paint so will have to try that again.

Oh and here is a picture of my game with some freebies I got from going to the midnight launch at Game, I know what a geek queueing up at midnight, but it was pretty cool they had a bunch of people in costume dressed as guards with muskets and all.

Any other Assassin's creed fans out there? What do you think of the game? Also the new black ops coming out next week so just a heads up if I go missing again :)

Stripey drag mani

I had a hard time trying to name this mani. I basically painted stripes and then quickly while the polish was wet I used a needle to drag the colours into each other. Please excuse the bad lighting, the weather was miserable when taking these shots. My sister thinks it looks like a wooly jumper, not sure what do you guys think? I quite liked the overall effect although I did find it a bit tricky painting the stripes of colour quickly so that I could drag the needed while it was still wet. Thankfully the stripes didn't have to be too neat anyway.

I came back home to London this weekend, which meant I could drag my lovely generous sister out shopping. We wanted to check out TK Maxx to see if we could get any Essie polishes, unfortunately our local one only had a couple of reds. We did however find some nice nails inc and models own. The models own was reduced to £4 for 3, bargain!

Glitter and gradient

Today I have a dusky pink and grey gradient with glitter on top. I used Kiko 375 and 328 for the gradient. I went to Boots the other day and got myself a couple of the new Barry M Gelly paint, they had a 3 for 2 offer so I got one of their new glitters too. A lot of them had sold out but I did manage to find Rose Quartz which has micro holographic glitter and small rose gold hexograms.

Here is the gradient before the glitter topcoat, with bits of sponge too! I hate it when that happens, but topcoat usually evens it out. The grey looks more blue with this colour combo not sure why but I think it goes well with the dusky pink.

Louboutin nails

Apparently Christian Louboutin was inspired to paint the soles of his shoes red after seeing his assistant painting her nails red. Yay for a fellow laquerista to inspire some of the most sought after shoes. I love how high his shoes are, well for a little 5ft girl, I need all the help I can get. I am yet to own a pair, but I think if I did I would probably be too worried to wear them and get them ruined! So for now I will just stick to some nails. This is a really simple mani, so I added some gems to an accent nail and bling it up a bit. Start by painting the underneath of the nail red, this can get a bit messy and after clean up leaves a slight red stain on the fingers. Then paint nails black as normal. This would obviously work best for longer nails, however I am not a big fan of really long nails also I find it quite hard to grow them much longer than what you can see.

I like this mani just because it is so simple to do. I think maybe glitter underneath could look nice too although I think the removal would be quite hard.

Multi-coloured stamping

One of the great things about joining the nail blogging world is when I'm feeling a little uninspired there are so many great blogs to read and different ideas to get me going again. I saw this mani by Jenni at Gold Speck Nails (check out her blog, she has lots of great nail art and best of all another fellow British blogger). She has also provided a very easy to follow tutorial here.
I used 17-Mink as my base coat and purple, green, navy blue and pink for the stamping using BM-205.

I really like the effect of the multi-coloured stamp and will definitely be using this method again so thank you Jenni :)

Rainbow dots

So more rainbows, this time using my dotting tool. You would think dots would be simple to do but for some reason I can't seem to get mine all equal in size. I used Gosh holographic hero as my base coat then various polishes for the rainbow dots.

This mani was quite fun and easy to do but a little to bright compared to what I usually wear. I am a bit boring and tend to stick to neutral colours with my nails and my clothes, definitely not brave enough to buy anything neon!

Rainbow Zebra

What's black and white and red all over? No not a newspaper, a sun burnt zebra of course! Ok contain your laughter, I promise no more jokes. Today I have for you a rainbow gradient with a zebra print on top. I quite like this mani, I think the rainbow gradient makes a great base for stamping.

Nail narcotics Giveaway Challenge!

Hi all! This is my first attempt at any sort of challenge in the blogosphere, so I was quite excited. The challenge can be found here so be sure to check out the other entries as well as the prize that is up for grabs! The theme for the challenge is food!!!! Yay! I love food and so then found it really difficult to choose what food should be on my nails! Eventually I thought I would attempt some free hand nail art of my favourite junk food.

Ok so my fingers look upside down here, I just find it easier to paint that way but the second picture you can see them the right way round :)

From my pinky finger to thumb I have painted: a pretzel, a cupcake, some fries, a burger and a can of coke. Mmmm lots of calories there and not so healthy, maybe we should encourage nail narcotics' husband to blog some recipes ;)

I hope you enjoyed my entry and I look forward to taking part in a few more challenges in the future.

Drag marbling

I haven't been posting as much recently, been nursing a cold :(
So for this mani I used Kiko gold rosy brown and dark chocolate with some Barry M gold foil. The gold rosy brown is one of my favourite polishes at the moment, you can see swatches of it at the bottom, it is a beige nude with a hint of gold shimmer in it. I created this look by using my dotting tool to place the dark chocolate and gold dots while the base polish was still wet, then using a needle to drag. It isn't as neat or even as I would have liked, but I was in a bit of a hurry trying to put the dots on while the polish was still wet. My favourite is the ring finger.

It was a bit difficult to capture the gold shimmer in this polish as it is quite subtle but it does look great in real life.

Kiko, Stamping and kiddie nails

For my first choice of swatch from my Kiko haul, I decided to use the camouflage green, it seems like an appropriate autumn colour. The application of the polish is smooth with two coats giving good coverage. I then stamped the shattered glass image using BM-208 with Barry M silver foil.

While I was home, I painted my two little sisters nails, they were easily pleased as my Mum doesn't really let them wear polish yet. I painted little red hearts on the pink nails and stamped lilac silver stars on the purple nails. I was hoping to show you my other sister's nails, but she is too fussy and I gave up (no doubt she will call me to moan after reading this :p)

On a side note, I have noticed my photo's are not appearing in the blogger home feed, I am not sure why this is happening, has anyone else had this problem? It could be because I was blogging from my iPad and using the Picasa Web album rather than uploading them directly. I don't seem to have that problem if I blog from my laptop.

Kiko Haul

Apologies for the absence, I went home to visit family in London for a few days and got busy. While I was there I finally managed to visit the Westfield in Stratford and popped into a few shops. I was most excited about visiting the Kiko store, I think I went a little crazy in there, but at £1.50 a bottle who could blame me? They have been running the promotion for a while, with some of the other cosmetics reduced too. I got 8 bottles from the range and I also got two from the Lavish Oriental limited edition collection. The limited edition ones are all holographic and come in four colours and are priced at £4.90.

From left to right:
401-Peacock green
400-Steel grey
371-Gold rosy brown
355-Canary yellow
337-Periwinkle Violet
328-Gray
375-Bois de Rose
214-Pearly white
348-Camouflage green
324-Dark chocolate

I really had to control myself from not buying more, although if I decide I need some more colours I might ask my little sister really nice (or just raid her stash like I usually do). I haven't got around to swatching all the colours yet, not sure which ones to do yet. I do have pictures of the peacock green holographic, although the pictures do not really do it much justice. It is a very sparkly and has a great holo (-ness? I am not quite sure what the word is). For some reason in the first two pictures which were taken in indoor lighting the blue/green doesn't really show through but you can kind of see the holographic effect. You can see the colour a little better of the pictures taken in natural outdoor light.

Which colours do you think I should swatch next?

GOSH Holographic Hero

Look what I found in Superdrug today!!!!! I was unaware Gosh cosmetics were going to relaunch a holographic polish. I admired the original holographic photos that were online and had given up hope of ever owning a bottle after seeing the ridiculous prices on eBay. This was the last bottle there so I had to get it and when I got home I did a bit of research and from reading other blogs this isn't the same formula, there is a great comparison here. However for £4.99 a bottle you can't go wrong for a holographic polish. I only own one other holographic - color club worth the risqué.

After the first coat I could immediately see the holo loveliness shine through. It is a little streaky in application and does require 2 to 3 coats. Please excuse the messy application, I could barely contain my excitement! It is much more holographic than the color club I own but not as holographic as the original Gosh holographic but I am still pretty happy. Oh this one is called holographic hero #549.

So get down to your local Superdrug (UK readers) and get it while you can, hopefully they won't discontinue this one. As for my international readers, I shall keep my eyes peeled for this when I am next in and maybe we can arrange a polish swap :)

PS3 nails

My last few posts have been quite short, so I thought I should put a bit more effort into this one. Firstly I have been seeing swatches of the new Barry M Gelly nail polishes about and they look so nice! Check out Allie's blog for swatches - link here I can't really decide on a favourite but maybe the blue or purple, really looking forward to getting a bottle or two!

So onto the nails, as you may have gathered from my blog name, I'm a bit of a gamer possibly a little bit addicted but I find painting my nails and playing work really well together. I can paint my nails and while waiting for them to dry between coats I play a game of demolition on MW3, that way I'm not getting impatient or end up with a gloopy mess. I think I might do a call of duty nail art mani soon but apart from a gun and grenade I can't think of what else I could paint, any ideas?

These are my ps3 nails with my lovely blue controller (blue is my favourite colour plus it makes a nice change from the boring black ones).

Any other fellow ps3 gamers out there? Drop me your psn username in the comments and I'll add you :)
